Seville and South Chandler are both great places to raise a family. With plenty of local parks with playgrounds for kids and family-friendly events going on all year long, there’s always something fun to do. Our community has a lot to offer when it comes to play, education, and cultural enrichment. Here are some of our favorite local activities that we enjoy with our own families.
Best Local Parks in Seville and South Chandler
Giving kids fresh air and lots of room to move their bodies is an important part of fostering healthy development. From improving gross motor skills to proprioceptive awareness, kids get a lot out of using playground equipment. These are some of the top local parks where kids can run, jump, slide, swing, and spin.
- Seville Neighborhood Park
Tucked into this Gilbert-area neighborhood, the park offers wide open spaces for kids to run around and play, while also giving families walking and biking trails to enjoy together.
- Desert Breeze Park
This Chandler park’s biggest attraction is its spray pad for kids, which is open April through October. There’s a generous playground to enjoy as well. The park has a lake that’s open to fishing, plus walking trails and sports fields.
- Tumbleweed Park
Chandler families have been enjoying the ample shade at this park for years. Even the biggest playground equipment has a canopy over it to keep kids’ areas cooler. The park features multiple athletic fields, picnic areas, walking trails, and even a museum.
- Other popular Chandler parks with playground areas for kids include Espee Park and Arrowhead Meadows Park.
Year-Round Family Events in South Chandler
The farmers markets in Chandler are always a popular Saturday activity. Dozens of vendors offer fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread, and handcrafted food items.
- The Downtown Chandler Farmers Market is open year-round on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm. The first Saturday of each month is designated as “Kids’ Day” with games provided by Chandler Parks & Recreation and storytime at 9:30am in the courtyard next to Crust Simply Italian.
- The Greenhouse Gardens in East Chandler are also open on Saturdays from 9am – noon.
- And don’t forget about Downtown Chandler Third Thursdays! Browse a unique selection of goods from area vendors and enjoy entertainment like live music or interactive art exhibits.
Chandler also has a rich schedule of annual events that showcase the best in local arts, music, and culture.
- Start the year off with the Chandler Multicultural Festival in mid-January.
- Continue with the Chandler Jazz Festival in April.
- Don’t miss the CinePark May movie series at Tumbleweed Park. They’ll be showing classic family movies like “How to Train Your Dragon.”
