Dental Crowns in Sun Lakes, AZ

A broken tooth or filling can be painful and cause stress, but crowns are an effective and affordable way to fix these dental issues. A crown is a cap that covers the surface of the tooth and restores it to its original shape and size. Crowns are intended for teeth that are damaged but do not require removal.

Dental Crowns (or Caps) Can Repair:

    • Broken or fractured teeth
    • Decayed teeth
    • Fractured teeth
    • Large fillings
    • A tooth with a root canal
    • Stained teeth

Types of Dental Crowns

There are various types of crowns, such as metal, ceramic, and all-resin, but porcelain crowns are one of the best options. They’re durable and we color match them to your teeth so they look natural. Although porcelain crowns can last up to 15 years, there’s a small chance they may have to be replaced. If they do, we’ll be here to get you a new, natural-looking crown.

How Are Crowns Placed?

The procedure for crown placement often takes two appointments to complete. First, we will take preliminary impressions of the tooth to create a temporary crown that you can wear while you wait for your custom permanent crown. It takes approximately two weeks for the lab to make the permanent crown.

Your doctor will remove any decay and shape the tooth, and then take final impressions that are sent to the lab to make the permanent crown. The assistant will then make a temporary crown and set it in place with a soft, but strong, temporary cement. We will check that you can bite down comfortably, and that the temporary crown stays in place.

Once your permanent crown is ready, we will remove the temporary crown, clean your tooth, and place your new crown. We will ensure that the permanent crown fits comfortably and that its spacing is accurate. We’ll also provide you with care instructions for your new permanent crown, and schedule follow-up appointments to keep your teeth healthy.
